Imagine - How we can reach the UK (booklet)

- by Mark Greene

A groundbreaking report published in partnership with the Evangelical Alliance.

‘Absolutely brilliant!’ ‘Challenging!’ ‘Immensely motivating!’

The document challenges Christians to think beyond ‘church’ and to see faith as touching every aspect of their lives. It also identifies areas where the Church needs to expand its vision and mission if Christianity is to be seen as relevant to society. It challenges church leaders and members to ensure that faith isn’t confined to churchgoing and encourages them to think about 24/7 Christianity. It has already been sent out to approximately 50,000 Christians in the UK.

From vicars to individual church members, from Anglicans and Baptists to independent fellowships, from Belfast to Bristol - most of the feedback seems to be saying the same thing: ‘I try to be 'salt and light' but despite attending a large church where there is good teaching, I often feel inadequate. Imagine made me realise I am not alone.' This was echoed by another correspondent: ‘At last - a thorough look at what it means to be Christian. I hate being a Christian in church, while being unsure of what to be in work. Someone understands and is communicating to me in ways I understand. Wow! There is hope!'

The Imagine report includes a questionnaire which addresses how the Church can best serve its members and how it might help Christians become more effective at every level of society. The results of that survey will be published later this year and will form the basis of a series of consultations with client groups across the UK.
