Each year at Christmas time, we Christians are frequently heard bemoaning the materialism of it all and the fact that the real meaning of Christmas has been lost. God calls us to both Faith and Action. Even non-Christians enjoy carol services and, arranged imaginatively they can be a great platform to gently re-introduce work colleagues to the Servant King, the true focus of all our celebration. Below we reproduce a range of materials and ideas designed to help you take Action. Pray about this first, and then have a look. May God bless your Faithfulness.

Vision, Action, Faith

“If you have vision, but no ability to make things happen, you are just a dreamer. If you can make things happen, but don’t know what to do, your efforts will be futile. But if you have both action and vision you can change the world”. Nelson Mandela

“I assure you that if you have faith as small as a mustard seed… you could do anything”. Matthew 17.20

Think Big

“Our God is so big, so strong and so mighty, there’s nothing that He cannot do”.

Be Positive

Is it better to sit safely ‘in the boat’ with the other disciples, or to step out in faith, like Peter? Does God want us to take risks for Him? (Matthew 14.28)

Christmas Ideas

1. Give out copies of ‘Why Christmas?’ instead of Christmas cards to colleagues.

2. Give your work colleagues an Advent calendar on 1st December, with Bible verses on it. (Download an Advent Calendar Screen Saver from SGM Lifewords and LICC).

3. Give Jesus videos to colleagues (available from Agape).

4. Organise a carol service (see ‘An A to Z of Organizing a Carol Service’).

5. Hand out, or include in Christmas cards the superb: 'The real story of Christmas' tract available free from Scripture Gift Mission (www.sgmlifewords.com; tel. 0207 730 2155; uk@sgmlifewords.com).
