An interesting e-mail arrived in my in-box the other day which some of you might be interested in:

11 September is not only the 5th anniversary of the World Trade Centre
disaster. It's 100 years since Gandhi made his famous declaration of non-violent passive resistance ("satyagraha") in front of 3000 Indians in the Empire Theatre in Johannesburg.

John Morris, an Anglican clergyman who used to be a teacher, has written a useful book called Contemporary Creed. It's designed for people who are interested in the faith, and/or those who want to go deeper - and tackles the hard issues on a bite-size 60-question journey through Christianity.

Once again, Big Brother has shown demonstrated how we can be duplicitous and hypocritical without even realising it. Gorgeous George may have looked frighteningly silly pretending to be a cat, but it was his interaction with Preston and Barrymore towards the end which sealed his fate, and which will surely have a negative effect on his political career.

dan flavin at the hayward

Went to see the Dan Flavin retrospective at the Hayward Gallery in London this week (Mondays half price - £3.50). A very beautiful exhibition featuring many of the works that made him famous. Flavin worked exclusively with flourescent lights - in the 4 standard lengths and 10 standard colours that were available.
