Part time student (MA in Psychotherapy for Children)
Born in December 1960 in Michigan, USA, to a Scottish father & first generation American/Scottish mother.
Lots of good memories of a care-free American childhood, but also introduced to the denomination (or should that read "domination") of the Plymouth Brethren.
Moved from the States in 1972 to live in Scotland. Ever-so-slight culture shock! PB's got much worse but thro the grace of God managed to find him for myself aged 18.
Trained & worked as a physiotherapist until 1984 when I escaped, joined OM & worked in Eastern Europe for 2 years. After that, 3 years at LBC (now the London School of Theology) in London where I met & then married Steve.
Back to physio for a bit then had 2 children Amy (1990) & Ethan (1993). I chose to be a full time mother, despite having no money!
When they got a bit bigger I dabbled in pottery, ceramics, silk painting & calligraphy. Now I indulge my interest in people & music by working at a music school for kids.
Have also developed some degree of knowledge of & experience with autism & Asperger's Syndrome through family members being on the autistic spectrum.
Have participated in churches across the spectrum from extremely conservative to Vineyard. After a prolonged sabbatical from church membership, we are slowly exploring a post-modern fellowship in west London.
I love reading & have to battle to put whatever I'm reading down & get on with other things!
Music is another love but listening & dancing to it rather than knowing about it or playing it (unfortunately).
Dance, particularly modern, fascinates me- check out the George Piper Dances company or Russel Maliphant for sheer brilliance.
Photography is a long standing interest - have just got a new camera but am struggling to learn all the technology it contains! Technology is a means to an end- not a great love!
I'm in my element when creating things, be it in the garden, painting, creating good-looking documents, editing photos, etc & have a love of colour, texture & form.
I am fascinated by people & indulge in people-watching whenever possible. I have some great friends & spending time with them is essential for my mental health!
As well as my husband & 2 wonderful kids, I have a completely mad dog called Hamish who is a Border Terrier & amuses, entertains & exasperates in equal measure.
