Many of the resources you find here will be devoted to that discussion: discovering what's working what's not? What's 'core' about disciple making what's up for grabs? What are the unique challenges we face in the western world in the 21st century when it comes to nurturing young people toward maturity in faith?
To that end I'll be gathering wisdom from Belfast to Bognor, from wise old youth work heads and young mavericks and getting your input via the site. And I'll be discussing my own journey: I'm involved with two pioneering youth work projects Ignite - a missional church aimed at reaching young people in North West London and Romance Academy a sex and relationships mentoring project for young people.
Finally many theologians and missioners have mourned the fact that Disciple making is a lost art. Harsh but fair considering the current state of affairs. I'd prefer to say it's not lost but has been severely neglected. So you'll find me talking a lot about apprenticeship and with good reason: a master marks out a journey of continuous growth in wisdom and skill for a novice and we see the best pattern for this in how Christ taught his disciples. I trust that the resources collected here will equip you to help young people follow in your footsteps as you follow the pattern laid down by Christ. Do bear in mind though that the project is in its infancy, so although it might look like bare bones now, more will be added as we make progress so please watch this space and keep in touch.
