'Whole-life discipleship' is increasingly recognised as crucial to mission in the UK today as well as critical in helping Christians grow in their experience of the life that Jesus came to bring us.
Flexible resource
The DVD is a flexible collection of material comprising a main film plus extra resources for use in one, two or three sessions in small groups, cells, leadership teams or churches. Together they present an inspiring vision of churches as fruitful, whole-life missionary communities in our contemporary culture. Going beyond the vision, though, the additional resources provide some first steps towards becoming these kinds of communities. There are exercises, questions, supplementary interviews with leaders who are integrating these truths and a PowerPoint presentation, giving groups of different sizes material that will help them reflect further and starter ideas to begin to implement two key values.
Main film
In the main 50-minute film Mark Greene explores the core reasons behind the church's difficulties in envisioning, equipping and resourcing and supporting Christians for today's world. It's a realistic but not pessimistic analysis of the state of the nation and the state of the church. He then goes on to propose a simple but radical way forward, focusing on two great biblical truths - the concern of the Creator-redeemer God for every aspect of our life and Jesus' mandate to make disciples not just converts.
Beginning a journey
Fruitful whole-life missionary communities grow in faith and life and mission - together and in the context of a challenging contemporary world. We have much to learn about just how to do that, and there's no one model, nor the perfect set of resources.
This DVD will, we hope, help you and your church begin the journey. And we hope, too, that you'll become part of a growing number of people who are determined to work out how to live day-by-day as whole-life followers of Jesus and who are also determined to help others do the same.
