'Let My People Grow' Workshops

Red SunflowerIntroducing the workshops

The 'Let My People Grow' Workshops (hosted by RUN - Reaching the Unchurched Network) are designed to give 'church leaders' a context in which to think through 'whole-life disciple-making'  in the light of their own situation.

They're workshops not conferences, so we aim to provide some input on two key values underpinning a whole-life apprentice culture. But we also invite people to come to work together - it can be quite tiring!

With the aid of group exercises, questionnaires, stories from other churches and with other leaders around the table we stimulate reflection on your current situation, and start to help you develop some small steps towards becoming communities where 'whole-life disciple-making' is central and effective.

It's by no means a complete picture, but rather steps on a journey. We don't have all the answers, but probably neither do you! However, it's a day when we hope, in bigger and smaller ways, to envision and resource each other, and to recognise that this journey is indeed worth making.

Workshop Feedback

So far we've run six workshops in Salford, London and Perth in the Spring 2006, and Bradford, Coventry and Bristol in the Autumn 2006. During the workshops we collect feedback (often on post-it notes) on certain key questions. They've varied slightly by location, but in the main they have been:

  • What's your 'big question' when you start to think about whole-life disciple-making?

  • Value 1: Whole Life Embracing - what are your questions and observations about this value, can you see some signposts that might indicate ways forward, and what opportunities are there for you to act?

  • Value 2: All Apprenticing Together - what are your questions and observations about this value, and can you see some signposts that might indicate ways forward?

  • What is your next 'small step' towards becoming a 'whole-life apprentice-making church' in the light of your own context?

You can read the questions people asked, their comments and ideas from each of the Salford, London, Perth, Bradford, Bristol and Coventry workshops (pdf files). They may stimulate ideas and thinking for your own situation. Or you can download John Smith's talk on The Pastor's Dilemma, which many leaders could empathise with and found helpful. Feedback from Bradford, Coventry and Bristol will be posted shortly.

If you want to add your own feedback please post your comments at 'Have Your Say'.
